Happy Thanksgiving from Cardinal Maps! We hope you are all ready to enjoy Thanksgiving (and not stuck in an airport) and for the holiday we decided to share some maps of where your Thanksgiving meal comes from across the United States.
We found a great map produced by ESRI that shows where your turkey, cranberies, sweet potatoes, and green beans are grown and raised across the United States. Since most of Thanksgiving dinners will include a turkey there is a good chance that your turkey was raised in North Carolina. Other major turkey states are Minnesota, Missouri, Arkansas, and Virgina.
Your green beans are probably from Wisconsin, Florida, New York, and Oregon.
Your sweet potatoes are most likely coming to you from farms in North Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, and California.
And your cranberries are sent to you from Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Washington.
You can take a look at the full interactive map here and see which counties are producing the most of each Thanksgiving staple here.
The New York Times also published a great map series that shows the top search terms from each state from Allrecipes.com during Thanksgiving. Take a look at different food trends by each state and check out all the maps here.
Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!
